A video gaming console is an interactive computer system used to produce a video display signal for the purpose of displaying a video game. The term gaming console designation means it is a device used just for video games and no other computer related application. Wii is a gaming console developed by Nintendo to compete with Xbox 360, by Microsoft and Play Station 3, by Sony. Xbox was developed by Microsoft for the purpose of competing with Play Station 2. Even though Xbox gaming console is a computer and software system dedicated to running video games, Xbox is also a total media center that allows users to download, not only games, but high definition movies, and play, stream, rip and network a variety of media. Xbox also features a detachable and upgradable hard drive, a dual layer DVD Rom and support for up to four wireless game controllers.

The necessary thumb operated buttons are on either side of the screen, allowing the user to hold the device with two hands and manipulate gaming action.
